Form “Ever” Follows Function
A crutial key of producing design is to understand where and how to start. Architecture needs the space to live by. Therefore, architects have to be attached to the famous phrase of Louis Sullivan, to create living spaces by considering function above all.
First of all, we have to establish the meaning of living spaces in order to create a well-thought design. Surrounding elements in the space are living according to the interests and needs. Whenever there is no need to use a thing, it has become abandoned and died. In architecture and similar disciplines, the scenario of the space must be reachable, understandable and versatile to provide a living space.
Nowadays cities have been challenging the fact that the spaces are becoming abandoned. The main reason of the fact is completely bounded to the problems of changing point of interests. The form of the designs has been losing their functionalities by time since the communal and individual interests are changing. The form should be contemporary as much as it can be, otherwise there will be no interests for the space to live.
The phrase “form follows function” is enlightening us how to apply the design ideas in our life. Understandably, producing design has successive objectives; our interests shape functions, functions shape form. Day by day, our interests are getting more complex, which also leads us to design with the harmony of complexity. The challenge in here is to create the harmony by useful design approaches.
As we all know for years, challenges lift us higher to make us better designers . In the light of the explanations, it can be said that the needs of users have to be evaluated carefully to create the design, then the absolute form will be shaped correctly as unpredictable or standardized according to what it needs. Eventually in either way, our understanding brings the form as a unique design since it reflects its surrounding values and needs.
After all, we challenge you to think about your project. How is your design should be? What are your needs for the design? Unpredictable or standardized? Let us know.
